Time for a New KAL.

Maybe I should've ended that title with a question mark, because part of me says "what, already?" (that's the part that remembers a half-finished Panoramic Stole and a barely begun Rill Scarf from our recent KALs languishing in my works-in-progress basket...)

Yeah, so I'm not listening to that part of me today.

Because Kathy and I spent fun time yesterday pairing up colorways of Claudia Handpaints Fingering and Malabrigo Finito...

...to knit the Sand and Sea Shawlette . Yes, it's time for a new knit-along! ***exclamation point!!!***

This will be our third KAL project from the ever-popular Coastal Knits book. We knitted the Rustling Leaves Beret last fall and the Panoramic Stole earlier this year - all of those projects turned out so well we wanted to knit another one. This shawlette seems like a perfect accessory for summer. It takes only 375 yards of fingering weight yarn, so you know it will be lightweight.  And the color options...well, that makes it perfect for a KAL!

The pattern suggests a main and contrast color (250 and 125 yards, respectively), but you could also choose a single skein of Madelinetosh or Malabrigo Sock and knit it in one color.  Kathy and I, we're definitely going the two-color route!

...now the only challenge is...which two colors to pick!

We'll be casting on next Friday (April 27, 2012) afternoon. Please do make plans to join us - in person is always fun, but virtually is ok, too. You can chime in on our Facebook page or Ravelry forum.

Eggs.

Yep, see what the UPS man delivered today.

...and we were all very relieved when we opened the box to find...yarn! (whew! we do strive to be a full-service shop, but with Kroger right next door, we aren't likely to be carrying groceries anytime soon!)

Which is a good thing. Because we really don't have the room, especially with all the new yarn that's arrived in the past week.

Remember that empty space on the back wall? No more!

It's now filled with Madelinetosh Vintage, Shibui (including all the colors of Silk Cloud - just in case you might be coveting Gradient, their newest free pattern, which calls for four colors of Silk Cloud), Juniper Moon, Araucania (still 25% off), and Madelinetosh Merino DK and Chunky. We have the new Madelinetosh spring 2012 colors, too. (and yes, they are prettier in person!)

We've also restocked Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted and Shepherd Sock (including the fabulous new Kedzie colorway).

And Claudia Handpaints Fingering Merino and Linen.
just a sample - the fingering display is twice this tall...and the linen is on another wall!
And Madelinetosh Sock and Merino Light. As pretty as ever!

Aren't you glad we're not making room for eggs?
